Abstract
|
The article is devoted to the consideration of English-language online translators and dictionaries which are used by students in the educational process. The main online translators that are available online and focused on Ukrainian speaking users are analyzed and characterized. The research identifies the most used translators with the possibilities of high-quality translation which increase the efficiency of the process of learning English. The characteristics of online dictionaries complementing online translators or organized with them in a complex are analyzed. The authors systematize and summarize the characteristics of online translators and dictionaries given in the table and in the text. Their professional assessments in Internet publications, as well as the possibility of free choice and a convenient interface for most online services are the key points under consideration. The research presents the results of the anonymous survey of 55 students of the Kharkiv State Academy of Culture (Kh SAC) who study English. The authors analyze the survey respondent answers regarding their choice of a particular dictionary, the quality of translation, the convenience of work, other positive and negative aspects. As the results of the study show, the use of online translators and dictionaries in the study of the English language is a modern tool for creating an integrated computer learning environment for the more effective development of communicative competence.
