Abstract
|
The Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS) has recommended an image data compression standard, CCSDS 122.0-B-2. This paper presents a software implementation of CCSDS 122.0-B-2 in Golang. There are few existing software implementations which are recognized by CCSDS Community. However, turn-around time for decompression is the bottleneck with increase in image size. To reduce the turn-around time, the concept of concurrency methodology is used to parallely decompress segment wise data. As a consequence, the performance of the software improved notably by 300% with respect to the existing software implementations. A detailed design is explained and the experimental results suggest that this implementation is competitive with existing approaches.
