Abstract

More and more organizations and industries are now relying on RFID for the tracking and controlling of the goods, this makes these organizations more vulnerable to many security attacks. The goal of this study is to perform a systematic literature review of radio-frequency identification (RFID) and its widespread applications focusing on the use of RFID in the field of Internet of things (IoT). The IoT paradigm is based on the idea of making every electronic device around us connected to some sort of network. This will provide a huge shift in data transmission techniques. These new capabilities come with seriously increasing threats on the confidentiality of the transmitted data. And since that RFID is the most common technology used for the deployment of IoT, the security of the data transmission protocols in RFID became crucial. This paper goes through the RFID security threats and attacks and discusses several RFID security protocols as well as other security mechanisms.
