Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) provides an environment in which objects, animals or people are connected with the unique identifiers like chips and sensors with the ability to transfer data over a network without the involvement of human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction. Routing Protocol for Low-Power and Lossy Networks (RPL) is a predominant routing protocol for the low power and lossy network in IoT. RPL works efficiently on the power constraint part of Internet of Things. Multiple points of attack in IoT create a lot of security issue. Distributed Denial of Services (DDoS) is one of the attack occur in RPL used for IoT. DDoS disturbs the ubiquitous service of IoT by creating congestion and disabling normal functions of the devices. This paper proposed Trust based DDOS Attack Detection (TDD) approach against Packet Frequency based DDOS Attack Detection (PFDD) for IoT. Proposed technique use data frequency threshold measure with respect to the data interval. This improves the detection accuracy of the system packet arrived, throughput, overhead and power consumption by using Cooja simulator.
