Abstract
|
With the fast proliferation of QoS-enabled wireless packet net-works, the wireless community has been increasingly looking for a framework that can provide effective QoS control. In this paper, we focus on QoS provisioning in 1x evolution for data and voice (1xEV-DV) environment. We investigate a dynamic bandwidth provisioning method that is able to increase service provider's revenue. It is achieved by releasing unutilized bandwidth for use by other profitable services (e.g., applications using conversa-tional class). The proposed method is implemented as a simple network management protocol (SNMP)-compliant management information base (MIB) and deployed at packet data serving node (PDSN). The experiments conducted on LG Telecom 1xEV-DV testbed show that the method can increase the bandwidth for the conver-sational class and guarantee adequate service quality for the background class as well.
